The goal of Silberkinder Weims is to celebrate the unique and versatile Weimaraner by producing healthy, birdy, highly trainable, and beautiful dogs of excellent temperament that can bring joy and success to their owners, whether they choose to participate in the breed, obedience, or agility ring, in hunt tests and/or field trials, or are wanting that extra special pet or hunting companion.
I don't breed very frequently, usually having a litter only every 2 years or so. This is because I put so much time and effort into proving the breeding worthiness of the dogs I plan to breed. All breeding stock are screened and/or OFA certified for hips, elbows, heart, thyroid, and eyes, as well as being working therapy dogs. All have proven their worth in conformation, agility, hunt tests, field trials, or other performance events. I am an evaluator for both Therapy Dogs International and the AKC's Canine Good Citizen program. I am also an AKC hunt test and field trial judge, so am uniquely qualified to assess both temperament and field ability.
Vague memories of a rescue Weim that stayed with us briefly in 1964 and a puppy that didn’t live to be very old left me with a Weim shaped hole in my soul. When my kids had grown and I was in a position to be an at-home Mom to whatever breed of dog I wanted, the life-long yearning for a Weim was fulfilled through the purchase of Shatze (U-CD, U-AGI Smokycity Silver Charmer CDX, JH, OA, OAJ, NSD, NRD, V, CGC, TDI) in 1998. An injury ended Shatze’s show career shortly after her first birthday, but gave us an opportunity to explore other dog activities. I learned a lot from Shatze during her all too brief life. I continue to learn through her daughter, her son, her Granddaughter, her Great-Granddaughter, and her Great Great-Grandaughter who now share my home.
